Rev. O. A. McGuire The Reverend O.A. McGuire of Neodesha, Kansas, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at the Wilson County Hospital. He was 95. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Church of the Nazarene under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverends Carl Soliday and Dale Coble will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, 704 Indiana, Neodesha, KS. The son of James L. and Hattie Rogers McGuire, he was born March 4, 1911, in Arriba, Colorado. On July 31, 1932, he was united in marriage to Cora Mae Welty in Densmore, Kansas. She preceded him in death July 23, 1996. Rev. McGuire was an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and served in the pastorate for 40 years in numerous communities in Nebraska and Kansas. He has been associated with the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene since 1973. Survivors include two sons, Roger and wife Barbara McGuire of Jacksonville, FL, and Ralph and wife Sally McGuire of Wichita, KS; two daughters, Evelyn and husband Kermit Brock of Waco, TX, and Lois and husband Keith Tyree of Wiley, CO; one sister, Arla Patton of Hugoton, KS; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Clifford, Robert, Noah, Arthur, Cecil and Cleo; and four sisters, Joeann, Lila, Viola and Gwendolyn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, Neodesha, KS, or may be left at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.penwellgabel.com.
