Richard Olin Kauth

Richard Olin Kauth passed away on January 15, 2024. Richard was born November 28, 1938, in Fredonia, Kansas to Olin and Geneva Kauth.

Richard grew up on a farm south of Fredonia. He attended Bell Country School, later graduating from Fredonia High School in 1957. Continuing his education he attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, OK, before graduating from Draughon’s College of Commerce in Kansas City, Missouri.

Richard met the love of his life Viola, and the two married on October 18, 1958, Making their home in Neodesha. The two had four children, Michael, Mark, Kevin, and Katrina.

Throughout his life, Richard held several jobs. He was the plant supervisor at IMCO Manufacturing, Plant Supervisor and inventory control at S.E. Manufacturing Company, and a group leader at Automotive Control Corp. In 1992 he began his own business, Kauth Construction, where he worked until his retirement.

Richard loved to work in the garden. He devoured the seed catalogs, hardly containing his urge to plant the seeds. One of his favorite hobbies was hunting, but he always made time to watch his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos.

During his life he was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Fredonia before transferring and becoming a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha in 1954.

Richard was a member of the church board for 35 years most of that time serving as Chairman of the trustees. He was also a Sunday School teacher; teaching 5th and 6th grade along with junior high and assisting with young adult classes.

Those left to carry on his memory are his wife, Viola, sons, Michael, Mark, Kevin, daughter Katrina, grandsons Christian and Adam and sister Marilyn King.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Olin and Geneva Kauth.

A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, January 26 from 10-11am with a celebration of life to begin at 11am at the Church of the Nazarene, 812 North 7th Street, Neodesha, Kansas. Burial will follow at Neodesha City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers family suggest memorials to the Church of the Nazarene sound system and Richard Kauth Music memorial scholarship.
