Robert L. Allen Robert Lee Bob Allen of Neodesha, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. He was 66. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, at Christ Church in Neodesha under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Rev. Dave Cheshier, Pastor Jim Raymond and Pastor Tim Valentine will officiate. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call to register Sunday from 1-6 p.m. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. The casket has been closed. Robert was the son of Walter E. and Beatrice McCaully Allen, he was born January 1, 1942, in Leavenworth, KS. He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1961. Bob was united in marriage to Linda Cash on November 3, 1962, in Leavenworth, KS. The couple moved to Neodesha in 1972 from Leavenworth. She survives at the home. He served with the Sheriff's Department in Leavenworth and Wilson Counties for 17 years. He was the undersheriff for Wilson County from 1976-80 and was sheriff from 1980-83. He later served with the Neodesha Police Department for 13 years, rising to the rank of Captain. He retired in April 1, 2005. Following his retirement, he was a maintenance man at the Gran Villas and mowed lawns for various people in the community. Bob was a member of the Christ Church in Neodesha. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife Sandra of Neodesha, Eddie of Leavenworth, KS, and Gary and his wife Shannon of Chanute, KS; one daughter, Ange and her husband Harvey Ramey of Fredonia, KS; seven brothers, Charlie, Kenny, Tom, Jim, Terry and Dave, all of Leavenworth, KS, and Rick of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Beatrice Herold of Leavenworth, KS, Patty Rye of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Mary Jobes of Topeka, KS; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Kristin, Matt, Jordan, Ryan, Vincent, Derek , Kaitlyn and Trenton.; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alexis. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Walter Jr, Jerry, Jack and Bill; and one sister, Mary Catherine Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lied Transplant Center, 987600 Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE 68198-7600 and may be left with the funeral home.
