Robert W. Fairbanks Robert Rob William Fairbanks of Neodesha, KS, was found deceased at his residence on Thursday, March 25, 2010. He was 30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Neodesha under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Father Steve Thapwa will officiate. Interment will be in Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, KS, at 2:30 p.m. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. Ignatius. Friends may call to register on Monday from 8 a.m.5 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m.4 p.m. at the funeral home. The son of Carl Fairbanks and Connie Cunningham Hudson, he was born August 21, 1979, in Independence, KS. Rob graduated from Neodesha High School in 1998 where he lettered in football and baseball. While a member of the Bluestreak football team, he was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player. Rob attended Independence Community College, graduating with an Associates Degree in 2000. He later attended Kansas State University where he studied landscape architecture. He was formerly a salesman for ADT Security in Tulsa, OK, and a mortgage broker in Lawrence, KS. While in junior high and high school, Rob showed his entrepreneurial spirit by operating his own lawn mowing service. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church where he had served as an Altar Boy and had, at one time, maintained the church lawn. Survivors include his father, Carl Fairbanks of Neodesha his mother and stepfather, Connie and Mike Hudson of Neodesha one sister, Dr. Rachel Duncan and her husband Dr. Tim Duncan of Emporia, KS one brother, Jeff Hudson and his wife Glenda of Lantana, TX three nieces, Hannah, Natalie and Morgan and two nephews, Piercen and Seth. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fairbanks his grandparents, Neva and Robert Cunningham his stepgrandfather, George Barnaby his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hudson three aunts and one uncle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neodesha High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund where they will be used to assist the Bluestreak football and baseball programs.
