Obituary

Ronald L. Shinkle, 80, of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away on July 5, 2026.

Ron was born on November 17, 1945, in Fall River, Kansas, to Carl and Iva (Lyon) Shinkle. He graduated from Fall River High School, where he met the love of his life, Judy Cohee. They were married on June 6, 1965, and shared more than 60 years of marriage, raising a family and building a life centered on faith, love, and devotion to one another.

Ron had a lifelong love of automobiles. He owned an auto body shop for a time and continued working on cars throughout his life. He also dedicated more than 35 years to the United States Postal Service, first serving as a substitute mail carrier and later as a full-time carrier. Over the course of his career, he drove more than one million miles delivering mail.

Ron and Judy shared a love that endured every season of life. Through illness, health challenges, and the hardships that come with growing older, they remained devoted to one another. Ron's greatest concern was caring for Judy and remaining by her side. Their steadfast love was an inspiration to everyone who knew them.

Ron is survived by his children, Rhonda Russell and husband Jeff of Havana, Kansas; Rebecca Beisly of Neodesha, Kansas; Judy Katzer and husband Trey of Liberty, Missouri; and Mark Shinkle of Neodesha, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeremy Russell, Kevin Russell, Jennifer Long, Nicole Kraft, Veronica Beisly, Joshua Beisly, Corrine Sebranek, Derek Katzer, Ryan Katzer, Matthew Shinkle, and Michael Shinkle; as well as 21 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Clairan Shinkle of Fredonia, Kansas, and Carl Shinkle of Smithville, Missouri.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Shinkle; his parents, Carl and Iva Shinkle; his brother, Victor Shinkle; his son-in-law, Glen Beisly; and his granddaughter, Madeline Shinkle.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 9:00-9:45. Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery.

Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast faith, gentle heart, and unwavering love for his family. His greatest legacy is not only the family he cherished, but the example of faithfulness, perseverance, and unconditional love that he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with Judy, walking together once again.
