Rosalee Gardner

Rosalee Gardner Rosalee Irene Gardner of Neodesha, KS, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha. She was 93. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Altoona Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. The Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate. Friends may call to register on Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. The daughter of Benjamin and Zoe Wiggans Preble, she was born June 16, 1916, in Altoona, KS. She graduated from Altoona High School. She was united in marriage to Herbert McCabe on December 20, 1940, in Independence, KS. He preceded her in death in May of 1958. She married Virgil Gardner on November 30, 1968, in Neodesha, KS. He preceded her in death May 4, 1990. Mrs. Gardner has been a resident of Neodesha since the early 1960s where she has been a homemaker. She was a former member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5962. Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband, Gary, of Neodesha; one granddaughter, Tawny White and her husband Travis of Neodesha; one great-granddaughter, Abby White of Neodesha. In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Benjamin Jr. and Zane; three sisters, Winnie Sutton, Joan Kindig, and Bonnie Pipitone. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 5962 or the Golden Living Center in Neodesha and may be left at the funeral home.
