Roy W. Gildart Roy Wayne Gildart of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at his home. He was 81. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Inurnment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The son of Charley F. and Sibyl O. Jones Gildart, he was born February 20, 1927 in Thayer, KS. He graduated from Thayer High School in 1945. On March 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Laura Ellen Erickson in Chanute, KS. She preceded him in death March 23, 2008. Mr. Gildart served with the US Army in the European-African Theater from 1945-1946. He was a member of VFW Post 5962. He was employed for many years at the Neodesha Co-op before becoming a foreman at IMCO, later Southeast Manufacturing. He also worked for several years as an electrician for Lees Heating and Cooling. He worked for Neodesha Plastics before retiring. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Lowry and her husband Bill of Neodesha; two sons, Randy and his wife Molly of Neodesha and Rick and his wife Tammy of Neodesha; three brothers, Ralph, Dale and Neil Gildart, all of Thayer, KS; six sisters, Erma Gough of Erie, KS, Lena Mae Pippen and Norma Stell, both of Oklahoma City, OK, Francis Wedan of Denver, CO, Nelda Beaman of Copan, Ok, and Doris Engstrom of Sepulveda, CA; five grandchildren, Stefanie and Heather Gildart, Ashley Haman, and Baylie and Andy Jabben; two step-grandchildren, Russell Brown and Whitney Burns; and one great-grandchild, Brylar Gildart. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Reve; and one brother, Paul. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.
