STEVEN COUNSIL Steven Wayne Counsil died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at his home in Neodesha, Kansas. He was 29. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the Grace Baptist Church under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor Jim Logan and Bobby Counsil will officiate. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call to register on Friday from noon-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. The son of Bobby Russell and Joan Pearl Jacobs Counsil, he was born October 8, 1975, in Independence, Kansas. He was raised in Neodesha and graduated as Salutatorian from Neodesha High School in 1994. The then attended Pittsburg State University. He was the former manager of Independence Telemarketing in Independence, Kansas, and the former manager of Goldies in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He presently was serving as a caregiver for his mother. As a child, he attended the Bible Baptist Church. While in school, he was president of the Neodesha FFA, a member of the NHS Math Relays team and the National Honor Society. He was also a 4.0 Renaissance Scholar, a Keith Hersh Scholar for four years and a member of the Bluestreak football team. He also was a member of the Neodesha Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball teams. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Bobby and Laura Counsil and his mother, Joan Counsil, all of Neodesha; three sisters, Tammie Kramer of Neodesha, Kimberly Palmer of Pensacola, FL, and Nancy Counsil Piley of Parsons, KS; and four brothers, Roger of Neodesha, Bobby of Little Elm, TX, Brian of Edgerton, KS, and C. Doug of Kansas City, MO.; one step-brother, Bill Nolan of Topeka, KS; and one step-sister, Tara Nolan of Wichita, KS. Condolences may be expressed at www.penwellgable.com.
