Thelma A. Chambers Thelma Arlene Chambers of Neodesha, KS, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at the Cherryvale Nursing Center. She was 77. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Kris Brinlee will officiate. Friends may call to register and view Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Everett and Mary Skinner Smith, she was born January 9, 1930, in Moran, Kansas. She grew up in Moran, graduating from Moran High School in 1948. On December 24, 1949, she was united in marriage to John Claude Chambers in Bronson, Kansas. They lived in Humboldt, KS, from 1957 to 1968 where they were involved in the jewelry business. Thelma and Claude then moved to Neodesha where they owned and operated Chambers Jewelry until they sold their business to their daughter, Cheryl. Thelma continued to assist her daughter in the operation until her health began to fail. Claude survives in Neodesha. Thelma was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of the Neodesha Housing Authority Board of Directors. She also was an avid seamstress. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Bly of Neodesha; one son, Kent Chambers of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren, Shelly Hulet, Caleb Chambers, and Alex Chambers; two great-grandchildren, Megan Chambers and Ryder Hulet. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Marcel Bly. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Wilson County Auxiliary and may be left at the funeral home.
