Vella High

Vella N. High, age 82, of Neodesha, Kansas formerly of Altoona, Kansas died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the Beverly Health Rehab in Neodesha, Kansas. Vella was born June 30, 1919 in Elgin, Kansas to Ernest E. and Eva Holeman Mounts. She grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas. On May 29, 1937 Vella married Milton P. High in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1986. They made their home in Altoona, Kansas until moving to Neodesha, Kansas in 1999. Vella worked for Staffordamp;s Grocery in Altoona, Kansas and the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas. She was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church and was active in numerous civic, and church organizations throughtout the years. Survivors include two daughters Georgia High of Independence, Kansas and Judy Reed of Neodesha, Kansas; one sister Questa Berry of Havana, Kansas and five step grandsons. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Longfellow officiating. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2003 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Wilson County Hospital Lifeline Program and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
