Virginia L. Dawson Virginia Laura Dawson of Neodesha, KS, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at the Golden Living Center. She was 96. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. The daughter of Charles Franklin and Lillian Ardelle Clark Savage, she was born June 28, 1912, in Sedalia, MO, where she received her education. On March 31, 1929, she was united in marriage to Ira Emmet Dawson in Sedalia. The couple lived most of their married life in Kansas City, KS. He preceded Virginia in death in April of 1974. Mrs. Dawson was a talented artist and spent many years employed by the recreation
ision of the Kansas City Parks Department teaching art. She was also the host of a live television show in Kansas City the 1950s which featured arts and crafts. She moved to Neodesha in the early 1980s to be with her daughter. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Willis of Neodesha, KS; a son, James Dawson of Golden City, MO.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary Jean and Carol Thuro; three brothers, and three sisters. No flowers are requested. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Dawsons name to either the Harry Hynes Hospice or the Wilson Medical Center Foundation and may be left at the funeral home.
