Willie Mae Borders, 91, of Neodesha, died Saturday afternoon at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Shelly Bethel Cemetery with the Reverend Jim Bell of Fredonia, officiating. Interment will be under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Friends may call at the chapel from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Coffeyville, Kansas and remembrances will be received at the funeral home. Wille Mae Borders was born November 1, 1916 at Bells, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph Mack Young and Belle Lewis Young. She grew up and attended school in Tennessee, graduating from Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. She was a cook in the school system in Tennessee and also helped on the family farm and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in rural Bells, Tennessee In 1937, in Corinth, Mississippi, she was united in marriage to Hugh F. Borders. Mr. Borders preceded his wife in death in January of 1968. She is survived by: a son, Harbert Borders of Bell, Tennessee; two daughters, Linda Dodson of Seattle, Washington and Hilda Wheeler of Neodesha, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren..
