Zanada R. Overpeck Zanada Ruth Overpeck of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus. She was 90. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Bible Baptist Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor DeWayne Prosser will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m.8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 68 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Lon James and Bertha Murken Deweese, she was born November 3, 1919, in Neodesha, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1937. On December 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to James E. Overpeck in Tulsa, OK. The couple made their home in Phoenix, AZ for number of years. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1974. Mrs. Overpeck returned to Neodesha in 1975 where she assumed the position of Administrator for the Neodesha Arts Center under the direction of the Neodesha Arts Association. She later worked as an assistant at the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library in Neodesha. Survivors include two nieces, Sally Millis of Neodesha and Susan Johnston of Oklahoma City, OK and one nephew, Jim Deweese of Neodesha. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents one brother, Oliver Deweese one sister, Clarinda and one nephew, Tim Deweese. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neodesha Arts Association and may be left at the funeral home.
