Albian Bailey Jr.

March 29, 1938 — July 24, 2022

Neodesha, Kansas

Albian (Bud) Warren Bailey Jr., 84, of Neodesha passed away on July 24, 2022, at his residence in Neodesha, KS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 28th at the Neodesha United Methodist Church with Reverend Lane Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Neodesha Cemetery.

Bud was born in Hutchison, KS to Albian (Ace) W. Bailey and Jerry (Mason) Bailey on April 29, 1938. At a young age, his family relocated to Neodesha, KS where he attended school from K-12. Following high school, Bud attended the University of Kansas, where he was a Sigma Nu, and then Wichita State University. He married Nancy Dreisbach in 1960. Bud and Nancy made their home in Wichita, KS until he took a job with New York Life and relocated to Springfield, MO. A short time later, he joined Geigy Pharmaceuticals as a pharmaceutical salesman. Bud and Nancy were married for 8 years before they divorced in 1968. On June 15, 1974, Bud married LaDonna (Malson) Baughman. Bud and LaDonna moved back to Neodesha in 1980 when he joined his father, Ace, and his brother, Gene in the family business, Bailey Oil Company. After working in the family business for 37 years, Bud retired in 2017.

Bud was a lover of nature and everything in it. He was known for carrying dog treats and cat food in the back of his truck to feed animals all around town and occasionally stopping traffic for a random critter to cross the road. Scouring plowed fields for arrowheads and other random Native American artifacts was also a favorite pastime.

Family was Bud’s number one priority. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, LaDonna, 7 children, Rob (Jackie) Bailey of Springfield, MO, David Baughman of Winfield, KS, Alecia (Rusty) Whetsel of Lapel, IN, Lea Bailey of Springfield, MO, Mike (Mary) Baughman of Bartlesville, OK, Chad (Kim) Baughman of Altamont, KS, and Andrea (Trent) Wetmore of Hermantown, MN; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and his brother, Lane (Kay) Bailey of Plattsmouth, NE.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Jimmee Bailey, his brother, Gene Bailey, and his sister, Polly Reichardt.
