George had been a resident of rural Neodesha for many years after teaching organic chemistry at the University of Southampton College in New York. He graduated from Neodesha high school to move with family to Los Angeles where he attended Whittier College. He later went to Kansas University and then a university in Boston Massachusetts for his PhD. After completing his PhD, George did some research in chemistry in Boston, and began teaching in New York. He retired in his fifties to Kansas, his birthplace. He thrived on his land and home located in rural Neodesha, Kansas. It gave him great pleasure to build his home and maintain his land.

Music was one of his favorite pass times throughout his life. He taught himself mandolin, banjo, guitar, piano, bass, and several other instruments. George played publicly with local family members and friends involved in public music functions. During his recent years he enjoyed mixing music on his computer with software designed for the purpose (Band in the Box).
