Russell Sumner

August 28, 1970 — October 25, 2022

Neodesha, Ks

Russell (Toad) Allen Sumner went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Russell passed away at his home in Neodesha.

Russel was born on August 28, 1970, In Coffeyville, Kansas to Bobby and Sharon Sumner. He received his GED in 1988. He went on to work at Pizza Hut and New Beginnings before his disabilities prevented him from continuing.

Russ was a friendly outgoing person who never met a stranger. He loved music, old movies and being a snack connoisseur. He never met a snack he didn’t like. He loved his family and assisted with the case of his Grandmother and Grandfather, before they passed away. This made it possible for them to remain at home until their passing.

Russ loved any kind of jewelry and was not bashful about asking if you would trade him a piece of your jewelry for whatever piece he had at the time. He would gladly give his jewelry away as gifts but expected to get it back later. His jewelry was one of his trademarks.

Russ enjoyed writing Christian poetry and giving glory to God on Sunday mornings when he would stand before the congregation and read his poem of the week. His poems were up lifting and come from the heart.

Russell is survived by the following. Bobby Ray Sumner of Independence, Mother, Sharon and Stepdad Tim Felton of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Three Sisters, Cindy Johnson of Independence, Soni and Heath Young of Cherryvale. Melissa Smith of Washington State. His Aunts, Uncles and many cousins will miss him dearly.

There will not be a day that passes that “Toad” will no be remembered with thoughts of love and laughter by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Russell and Evelyn Sumner.
