Stephen Andrew Mahaffey, 71 of Neodesha, KS passed away on August 11, 2021, in Eldorado, Arkansas.

A graveside service will be Tuesday August 17, 2021, at Grandview Cemetery in Neodesha, KS at 10:00AM.

Stephen Andrew Mahaffey was born September 19, 1949, in Neodesha, KS the son of Roy L. and Rosa (Hynke) Mahaffey. Stephen attended school in Neodesha, KS and graduated in 1967 from Neodesha High School. He served in the US Army during 1969-1971 in Vietnam. On April 8th, 1973, Stephen was united in marriage to Sherry C. Wasson in Neodesha, KS at the First Baptist Church.

Stephen is survived by his wife Sherry, daughters Stephanie Raida of Chanute and Melissa and Lee Shoaf of Fredonia, son Zackery Mahaffey of Neodesha, sisters Wynetta Mahaffey of Columbus, Twyla Kovac of Newton, brother Danny and Debbie Mahaffey of Neodesha. Grandchildren Kelsey, Kaley, Klare, Caitin, Wyatt, Hunter, Laryn, Jesse, Shelby, Macie, and Khonner, great-grandsons Easton, Zion and Huxley and 2 expecting great-granddaughters.


Stephen spent most of his time at home on the farm. His heart was on that farm day in and day out, there was no place he’d rather be. He had cattle that he spent lots of time caring for and watching the baby calves was probably his favorite time in the morning as he’d drive around checking them.

Stephen was a member of the National Rifle Association and his local VFW. He enjoyed Quail hunting and lead the local Quails Unlimited chapter for years As Stephen’s grandchildren grew up, he spent lots of time going to sporting events, 4-H shows and anything else they had going on. He enjoyed watching the kids compete.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Roy L and Rosa.
