Tammy Meigs

June 10, 1960 — October 11, 2020

Neodesha

Tammy Marie Meigs passed away October 11, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

Tammy Marie Meigs was born June 10, 1960 to Elmer and Cleda (Reed) Cohee at Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha and lived in Neodesha most of her life.  She attended Neodesha schools and graduated in 1978.

On March 4, 1978 she married Robert (Bob) L Meigs, and began the work of her lifetime, which was being a wife and mother. During those years, she worked for a time at Airosol Company and Sands Level and Tool. She travelled with her husband Bob for 10 years, living the RV lifestyle, as Bob worked as a Foreman for SCA of Independence, KS. They returned to their permanent home in Neodesha in 2013 to be closer to family.

Tammy was a giving person; she gave to others until she didn’t have enough left for herself. She never met a stray, be it a pet or a person, and opened her home to anyone.  She had a sensitive and tender heart, and it never did grow calloused with the passing years, as so many do. Her sister recalls as children that the other two sisters would get scolded for bickering and Tammy would cry for the sisters getting in trouble. She was a creative person who enjoyed decorating her home with her artwork. She enjoyed ceramics, creating needlework and making pictures to frame.

Tammy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bob, and their three children, Brandon Meigs of Minot, ND; Michael and wife Jennifer Meigs of Altoona, KS; and Hailey Kahn and her partner Derrick Shockley also of Altoona, KS. There are 8 grandchildren, Maisyn, Brekkyn, and Kowyn Meigs; Mija, Kheley, and Erma; and RJ (Robert) Cefarelli and Elijah Kahn. She has 1 great grandchild, Indya Hall, and one on the way. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Toni & Mike Myers of Independence, KS. and Twilla & Ed Boring of Cherryvale, KS.

Tammy is preceded in death by her father Elmer Cohee, and her mother Cleda.
