Vera L. Arnold Vera Lee Arnold of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday, August 06, 2008, at Harry Hynes Hospice Unit of Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. She was 75. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the First Christian Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Carl Soliday will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call to register on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. The daughter of Roy and Beulah Meigs McNutt, she was born September 11, 1932, in Thayer, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1950. On December 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Arnold in Neodesha. He survives at the home. Mrs. Arnold joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1953 where she was a very active member and Sunday School teacher. In 1964, she moved to Oakland, OR, with her husband. The couple returned to Neodesha in 1972. She owned and operated a day care service from 1984-1998, and was a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Donald L. Arnold and his wife Mary Beth of Neodesha, David Arnold and his wife Alice of Neodesha and Mark Arnold and his wife Sally of Holly, CO; two daughters, Diana Byron and her husband Paul of Neodesha and Linda Olson and her husband David of Lumberton, TX; one brother, Bill McNutt of Whitney, TX; two sisters, Mary Alice Hughes of Thayer, KS and Freda Roach of Lumberton, TX; 14 grandchildren, Hillary Arnold, Donald J. Arnold, Matt Arnold, Nick Elkins, Nisha Elkins Green, Bradley Elkins, Kindra Gray Rice, Toni Arnold, Ashley Arnold, Jacki Arnold, Bethany Ray Arnold Goodman, Lisa Lour-Arnold, Holly Lour-Arnold and Howard Lour-Arnold; and eight great-grandchildren, Justin Wade William Green, Trenton Tyler Green, Seth Isaac Rice, Elissabeth Vera Lee Rice, Noah Christopher Rice, Stephen Allen Rice, Nicole Jean Elkins and Samantha Lee Elkins. She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Gerald Cayle Gray. Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice of Wichita and may be left at the funeral home.
