Victor Allen Erbe, 82 of rural Thayer, Kansas passed away at Diversicare of Chanute on June 19, 2019. A visitation will be held at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas on Monday, June 24th, with the family welcoming friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graveside services will take place at Harrison Cemetery in rural Thayer, Kansas on Tuesday, June 25th at 10:30 AM.

Victor Allen Erbe was born on August 20, 1936, the hottest day of that year, according to mother Mary. He was born at home on a farm west of Thayer to Victor and Mary (Rouse) Erbe. He attended a one room school, Maple Grove for his grade school years. He was excited to start Thayer High School and enjoyed his years there. He graduated in 1954.

Allen played basketball at the junior college, worked in California for a while, and worked for Freeo Construction before joining the United States Army. He served his country from 1959 to 1961, stationed most of that time in Germany.

On April 6, 1964 he married Christine Kerr in Miami, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Nancy "Bonnie" Kubler, and Vickie Erbe, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. They built the house Allen was still residing in, in 1975. They enjoyed travelling during their vacations and visited a few of the world's famous cities; Rome, Paris, and Lisbon. After 39 years of marriage, Christine passed away in 2003.

Allen began working at WG Fertilizer in 1966. He bought that business four years later in 1970. The business was successful. Service to the Thayer area farming community was fulfilling work. During the busy season he often left before 7am and was not home before 10pm. Allen grew up in a farming family, he understood the need to get the work done when you can. He sold the business in 1993.

Allen enjoyed retirement. Some of his favorite activities were going to the casino and having coffee with the boys. He always enjoyed sports. His favorite baseball team was the Detroit Tigers, and he always cheered for the Jayhawks. But farming is what he really cared about, even in retirement, he was still always part of the farming community. He was often asked of his advice about what to spray or when to fertilize a field. Allen spent most of his life working and living in Thayer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Thayer community.

Allen is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise (Rouse) Erbe, father, Victor Erbe, wife, Christine (Kerr) Erbe, and brothers, Dwayne and Wayne Erbe.

Allen's memory will carry on with is daughters, Nancy "Bonnie" Kubler and husband, Steve of Chanute, KS, Victoria Erbe and husband Dean Dyke of rural Thayer, KS, sister, Ruth Ann Linville of rural Chapman, KS, grandchildren, Audra Folsom, Daniel Brooks, Michael Brooks, Jacqueline Dyke, and 6 great grandchildren.
