Virginia Marion Jones, 98, of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at Morning Star Care Home in Neodesha, Kansas.

Celebration of life services will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 2:00PM at the Neodesha United Methodist Church in Neodesha, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Neodesha Cemetery. A Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas.

Virginia M. (Thompson) Jones was born January 5, 1923, in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was the daughter of Merritt Eugene and Florence May (Johnson)Thompson. Virginia attended school in Independence, KS. and graduated from Independence High School in 1940.  She continued her education at IJCC and graduated in 1942 with an associate degree. After graduation, Virginia worked at the Army Air Base in Independence, KS. from 1943 to 1946.

Virginia was united in marriage to Everett Wayne Jones on February 2, 1947, in Independence, Kansas. Virginia and Everett spent two years in St. Louis, MO. before returning to Neodesha in 1951 where they have lived and made their home. Virginia worked for the First National Bank of Neodesha for 25 Years until her retirement. She was very active in the Eastern Star, a 50+ year member, Alpha PI Master Chapter Beta Sigma PI 50-year member, Board Member of Independence Community Concert, Neodesha Rankin Library Board Member and Neodesha Methodist Church Recording Secretary. After Virginia and Everett’s retirement they loved to travel, and they loved to take Bus Tours, because they could set back and see the countryside without having to drive. Virginia also loved to crochet in her spare time and was a Boy Scout Leader for her son’s Boy Scout Troop in Neodesha.

Virginia is survived by two sons: Brian Wayne Jones and wife Paula of Snohomish, WA, and Brent Jones and wife Denice of Neodesha, KS., 4 grandchildren:  Allison Wadkins (Kelby), Jessica Wolf (Adam), Michael Jones (Baily) and Ian Jones and 6 great- grandchildren.

Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband Everett Wayne Jones, parents Merritt Eugene and Florence May Thompson, sister Margaret J Miller and grandchild Merritt W Jones. Memorials can be made in Virginia’s memory to Neodesha Methodist Church and The Ronald McDonald House and can be left with the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS.
