Virginia Ramey

April 21, 1933 — July 8, 2020

Virginia Mae Ramey, age 87 of Wichita, Kansas formerly of Neodesha, Kansas passed away, Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Kansas Masonic Home.



Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Christ Church with the Pastor Joseph Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.



Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2020 with the family receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Friends may leave online condolences at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com



The family has suggested memorials to the Loran Fawcett Chapel and contributions may be left at the Funeral Home.



Virginia Mae Ramey was born April 21, 1933 in Benedict, Kansas to Fred and Artie Irene Ryf. She grew up in Benedict, Kansas and attended rural schools before attending Fredonia High School.



Virginia married Roy Ramey in November of 1955 and together they had three children; Marilyn Castillo (Antonio) of Wichita, Kansas, Cindy Monroy (Jesse SR) of Neodesha, Kansas and Leroy Ramey (deceased); Virgina worked in nursing and then for Prestige Cabinet Factory until she retired. She was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, VFW and the American Legion. Virgina loved her family fiercely and was a true prayer warrior. Her ornery spunk will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, rummy, and visiting casinos.



Survivors include two daughters Marilyn Castillo and Cindy Monroy; seven grandchildren Alisa Castillo, Travis Monroy (Mandy), Victor Castillo (Sarah), Hector Monroy (Mara), Jaime Castillo (Jennifer Cartwright), Jesse Monroy Jr. and Felisha Monroy; 21 great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, October 9, 1984, one son LeRoy Ramey, June 29, 2019, one brother John Ryf and one sister Helen Schultz.
