William Scott Foster was born on March 28, 1930 to Claud Lee Ross and Bertha Cormany in Parsons, KS. Bill as he was known most places graduated high school at Fredonia Kansas in 1948, which is where he began to make his mark in life.  Perfect Grades and being the Quarterback of the Football Team he held many passing records. During his Junior and Senior year they never lost a game, fact never lost a game after he took over during his sophomore year when the Quarterback broke a leg.  He always said if there would have been a playoff back then they would have been State Champions. He also held the Javelin and Shot Put Records for the Yellow Jackets and heard tell the Basketball Team was really good as well. Bill met his Love of Life in high school; he ran home and told his mother he had found the girl he was going to marry and have his children.  His mother saying “not right away I hope”? His response was “oh no not now, but when it’s time I will”. That courting started shortly after graduation as Bill went to Pitt State in Pittsburg, Ks on a Football Scholarship. Always working part time he didn’t have a lot of time to waste. Still Bill never took his eye off the prize and indeed on December 31, 1950 he married Leona Marler. William’s business dealings moved them around a lot, from Danville Ill, to Omaha, Kansas City, Wichita, Great Bend, El Dorado, Burns and more. Along their way they welcomed three children Cheryl, Timothy and Tobin. After the chase they decided to go home in retirement and moved back to Neodesha then to Independence and were happy to be in the area it all started some fifty years earlier.

Bill had many business ventures one of the first was Fosters BB Appliances where they had 6 stores from KC to Fredonia. Later he found his real passion which was the Commercial Feed Business.  After being moved around every few years he left Corporate America and started what would end up being his largest venture, White Hat Feeds in Burns, Ks. He also helped Leona set up The Three Little Kittens clothing stores where they had three locations.  Lastly Bill partnered with his good friends the Sowders in Toronto, Ks forming his last business named Min-Mix Minerals.

William enjoyed working, some even called him a workaholic and they wouldn’t be wrong, but he also liked to play, including swimming, fishing and boating when a chance presented itself. He loved cards as did Leona, both achieving Life Grand Masters status in Bridge. Still any card game was good, he loved the annual family poker games held by the Marler Bros was always a highlight right here in Neodesha.  We all played cards which he liked best of all, well maybe a Martini once in a while when playing.  Finally Bill Loved God who led both He and Leona to the Catholic Faith after going to many different churches. They never doubted their decision in God and the older they got the more they loved him and lived by him.

Those left to cherish his memory, his daughter Cheryl Jean Foster of Independence, Ks, son Tobin Robert Foster and wife Patricia K (Holm) Foster of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law Cherie Wright Foster of Hutchinson, Ks, grandchildren, Cody Shane Waymire, Tobin Scott Foster, Todd Alfred Foster, William Robert Foster, Timothy Luke Foster, Jacob Tyler Foster, Kevin James Foster and Ashley Mathews, and Seven Great Grandchildren, brother Chuck Ross and wife Patty of Washington,  sister Susan Alderson Fasco of Illinois and niece Lynda Stark of BC Canada.
